Global Warming and the Foundry Industry: Science, Politics, Economic Impacts and Opportunities

Climate science links climate change with greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and GHG emissions management means that the world energy acquisition and distribution systems will change, possibly in dramatic and unexpected ways. Now that greenhouse gasses will be regulated as pollutants in the US, climate change now represents a new economic and political reality for domestic and international foundries. The current state of national and global carbon fuel markets are discussed, along with expected near and medium-term price fluctuations, changes in energy demand and supply availability concerns. Potential competitive changes and opportunities for foundry responses will be discussed.
