30-Gb/s Low Power Inductorless CMOS Transimpedance Amplifier for Optical Receivers

摘要
A 30Gb/s inductorless CMOS transimpedance amplifier (TIA) for optical communication receiver is presented in 0.18-mu m CMOS technology. The TIA incorporates three stages of differential amplifiers with an active negative feedback. The feedback network provides a bandwidth of 7GHz in addition to the bandwidth offered by the three stages of the differential amplifier. The proposed inductorless TIA achieves a transimpedance gain of 45dB with 3dB bandwidth of 21.23GHz. The design has input referred noise current density of 63.1 pA/root Hz and jitter of 9.07 ps. The power consumption of the TIA is 10.296mW with a supply voltage of 1.8V.
