Experimental study of shallow foundation on geosynthetic reinforced soil mass

摘要
This paper deals with usual horizontal reinforcement in soft soil beneath shallow foundations of works. Specifically, some experimental studies provide a quantitative assessment of the bearing capacity and the settlement for a strip footing reinforced with geosynthetic layers. The loading tests are performed on reduced-scale models placed in the LCPC centrifuge. Deformations of layers are located and evaluated by digital image processing through the transparent side of a container. According to the yield design theory, a method for a such reinforced foundation on a sandy soil is proposed and discussed.
