IR Linac driven by a high-intensity TM01 diffraction-limited laser beam

摘要
It is widely believed that the future of particle accelerator technology relies upon the development of accelerator schemes based on the use of powerful laser pulses. We describe here a linear accelerator driven by a TM01 diffraction-limited laser beam propagating in free space. Under extreme conditions the energy gain experienced by the accelerated electrons can be well in the multi-GeV range.
