- [19] The prevalence rates of insomnias during childhood and adolescence may be comparable with adult prevalence rates; however, there are no estimates and no consensus on definitions of insomnia in children 6 years of age and older. There have been few treatment studies focused on with child and adolescent insomnia. This article draws on clinical experience and relevant literature in adults and in children less than 6 years of age.
