Effect of time and methods of planting on performance of rice (Oryza sativa) cultivars under medium land of Bihar plateau

摘要
In a 2-year experiment at Ranchi on method and time of rice (Oryza sativa L.) planting of different varieties, 15 June transplanting significantly recorded higher yield (36.14 q/ha) than transplanting on 29 June. Direct seeding either on 15 or 29 June gave significantly lower yield than 15 June transplanting. There was no difference in yield between transplanting and direct seeding on 29 June. Net return and benefit : cost ratio were also higher in case of 15 June transplanting. Among rice cultivars, 'IR 36' and 'Pusa 2-21' gave significantly higher yield than 'RAU 4045-10' though the former 2 were similar in yield potential.
