24 GHz Patch Antenna Array Design with Reduced Side Lobe Level for Automotive Radar System

摘要
Because of its characteristics of low cost, minimal weight and low profile over a wide spectrum of frequencies, in recent years, the use of microstrip patch antennas increased dramatically in many fields especially in satellite, radars and mobile systems. In order to improve some of the features of patch antennas and develop its performance, antenna arrays are generally used in the academic and industry communities. Therefore, in this work, a 1x16 series fed microstrip patch array is designed for the automotive radar systems. The center frequency is 24 GHz and antenna is located on Rogers RO4003 substrate material with epsilon r=3.55 and the thickness of the substrate (h) is 0.508mm 14.43 dB gain and -18.1 dB side-lobe level (SLL) is obtained using HFSS Ansoft-High Frequency Structure Simulator.
