The object-oriented approach and the event discrete simulation paradigms

The purpose of this paper is to discuss relationships between simulation paradigms and their design/implementation strategies. A simulation paradigm is defined as a combination of approaches to relevant aspects to be considered in the description of the entities' behavior. A dear distinction between object-orientation, as a strategy for model design and implementation, and simulation paradigms is established. The discussion serves as a basis for the definition of the concept of object-oriented simulation. Examples of object-oriented models designed using different simulation paradigms are presented.
