摘要
Power engineering is facing major changes some of them are captured by the smart grids newly adopted paradigm, while others are perceived as external impact of technological evolution in the traditional topics, like measurements. Here the innovation is usually reduced to smart metering initiatives. However, measurement technology is acknowledged as being a fundamental layer in the endeavor of setting the path toward modern power systems; it is taught in the Romanian engineering schools as an undergraduate 3 (sometimes 4) credits course. In this paper we report a recent experience with teaching measurements for future power engineers at Politehnica University of Bucharest (UPB). The paper includes course syllabus, a description of the laboratory set-up and management, experiments (including PQ analyzers, PMU-based synchronized measurements, smart energy meters etc.) and students' assessment.
