The enthalpies of mixing in Ge-Ni-Al melts

摘要
This paper presents the first study of the partial (for aluminum) and integral enthalpies of mixing in the Ge-Ni-Al ternary system along three ray sections with constant ratios between the atomic fractions of Ge and Ni(X-Ge/X-Ni = 0.7/0.3, 0.5/0.5, and 0. 3/0.7); the aluminum mole fraction in the ternary alloys was varied from 0 to 0.5-0.7. Measurements were taken on a high-temperature isoperibolic calorimeter at 1800 K. Mixing was accompanied by substantial exothermic effects. The major contribution to the thermodynamic characteristics of alloy formation in the Ge-Ni-Al system was made by intercomponent interactions in the boundary binary systems Ni-Al and Ge-Ni.
