ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT REDUCTION AND QUALITY CONTROL PRACTICES IN CONSTRUCTION OUTPUT

The building sector constitutes an important pylon of the economic and social developments. The outcomes cannot be obtained without important impact on the surrounding environment. Proper legal background and use of appropriate quality management systems might help avoiding construction products of doubtful quality. Is it enough to implement environmental management system in order to reduce the environmental impact? The paper presents the legal background for quality products in construction but also the standards meant to limit their environmental impact. Peculiar practical examples from the production process are also provided. Following the exhibit of the examples inconsistencies are remarked, recommendations for improvement are formulated and final conclusions are drawn. Quality- and environmental commitments as well as mass education are necessary in order to obtain improved results.
