摘要
Municipalities, both internationally and in Quebec, are increasingly involved in issues related to the mobility and integration of immigrants. This new demographic reality that more and more medium-sized cities are experiencing in Quebec requires municipal institutions to rethink their actions and the implementation of their programs. This article focuses on the emerging role of municipalities in the integration of immigrants in Quebec. The data presented here are taken from a research that took place in 2015-2016 with members of the Reseau des nnunicipalites en immigration et relations interculturelles (REMIRI) of Quebec. This network is made up of municipal civil servants who are looking for tools to help them respond to the new challenges of cities which are increasingly diverse. It has also highlighted the issue of proximity governance in relation to the integration of immigrants in their territory. Among the results is the creation of a typology of municipal action on immigration and intercultural relations that identifies the growing role of municipalities in matters of immigration and intercultural relations.
