AWARENESS ON VARIOUS DIE SYSTEMS USED IN PROSTHODONTICS AMONG DENTAL STUDENTS

INTRODUCTION: Removable die systems are frequently used to facilitate the manipulation of dies during the laboratory phase of fixed prosthesis fabrication.'-However, the separation of individual dies from solid casts requires that they be replaced in precisely the same position that they had occupied prior to removal. Both the setting extension of the stone and the particular removable die system will influence pass on substitution exactness, and the development may make quantifiable movements in pass on position. The aim of the present study is to create awareness about various die systems used in prosthodontics among dental students. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study setting was through an online survey among the dental students. There were a hundred participants involved in the survey. A questionnaire comprising 10 questions was posted on an online survey platform. The statistical software used for analytics included SPSS software. The statistical test used was descriptive. Chi square and correlation was done between the participants and the year of study. Obtained data were plotted into bar graphs and pie charts and tables. RESULTS: Awareness on usage of various die systems in the prosthodontics were asked, in which majority of the population about 70% had awareness, and 30% of the doesn't have the awareness.Importance of the die system in the field of prosthodontics were asked, in which the majority of the population about 63% said the die system is important in the field of prosthodontics , and 37% of them said it is not important in the field of prosthodontics, Pearson chi square test p value=0 .000 which is statistically significant CONCLUSION: The present study assessed the awareness of die pins among dental students. The study concludes that the level of awareness and knowledge assessed was acceptable. Majority of participants had good knowledge about the various die systems .
