ASSESSMENT OF AWARENESS OF DENTAL MATERIALS USED FOR SOLDERING AMONG DENTAL STUDENTS - A SURVEY

INTRODUCTION: Soldering is a process of joining two or more items together by melting and putting a filler metal (solder) into the joint, the filler metal having a lower melting point than the adjoining metal. Soldering and welding play an important role in trying to overcome misfits of fixed multiunit prostheses. AIM: To assess the awareness of dental materials used for soldering among dental students. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A self administered survey was conducted and circulated by platform 'google forms' and results were analysed using the statistical software SPSS Software version 23 and results were represented using pie charts. RESULTS: 79% responded were aware of the soldering materials and 21% responded were not. CONCLUSION: Dental students are more likely to be aware of this technique because soldering plays an important role in every department of dentistry, the study has given a considerable amount of information to dental students.
