Reaction in the Al-TiO2-CB4 system and in situ synthesis of an Al/(TiC+TiB2+α-Al2O3) composite

摘要
The reaction process in the Al-TiO2-CB4 system and the successful synthesis of an Al(TiC+TiB2+Al2O 3)composite was demonstrated. An endothermic peak with the maximum at 674.4°C, corresponding to the melting of Al, and two exothermic peaks was observed during heating. An exothermic peak associated with the solidification of Al was present indicating that the new phases formed were thermodynamically stable. The results show that the Al-TiO2-CB 4 mixture can react in the Al matrix to form TiC, TiB2 and α-Al2O3 phases according to 4Al+3TiO 2+CBbb4→TiC+2TiB2+2α-Al 2O3.
