摘要
A filigree dome shell structure made from cross laminated timber elements spans across the construction of the new synagogue in Regensburg. Four columns form the corner supports of the shell. The massive main body shows a facade from washed, upright positioned bricks. On top of the main construction, a quadratic glass member with a side length of 13 m arises in eastern direction, which is concluded by a wooden shell. The geometry of the shell describes an extract from a ball with a radius of 25 m and a maximum height of 1.64 m. The wooden shell is framed by four circular, welded steel arches HEB 160, which are supported by round cantilever columns on the corners. The thin shell with a slenderness of h/L = 100 and a flat arch height cannot be stabilized by the cantilever columns exclusively. Circumferential tension members incorporate the horizontal shear force and brace the entire system.
