Metasurface Luneburg Lens Antenna with Planar Focal Surface

摘要
Although the Luneburg lens antenna can effectively, achieve multi-beam scanning, the conventional Luneburg lens with curved focal surface has great limits in many application scenarios. To solve this problem, a new approach for designing a Luneburg lens antenna with planar focal surface is presented. Based on the flattened Luneburg lens theory, the proposed Luneburg lens is built up by the metasurface technology. The proposed Luneburg lens antenna can radiate a pencil-shaped beam with a realized gain of 12.8 dB and a half-power beamwidth (HPBW) of 16 degrees. By switching the feed along the planar focal surface, the multi-beam radiation can be attained.
