Clinical ethics in palliative care: A philosophical approach based on the work of Kostas Axelos

In the field of research in contemporary clinical ethics, the thought and work of the philosopher Kostas Axelos (1924-2010) are relatively unknown and yet rich in heuristic pos-sibilities in issues relating to care. His approach to man and his relationship to the world indeed proposes to rethink the clinic from an ethical standpoint by giving it a strong existential mea-ning, in particular in the field of palliative care. While questioning the notion of method within the framework of a critical approach to the protocolization of care, Axel's ethics is inspired by a phenomenological approach to the care process and tries to go beyond it. Ultimately, this approach aims to best mobilize the ethical resources present in hospital services in order to improve patient care.(c) 2021 Elsevier Masson SAS. All rights reserved.
