摘要
Fe/Ti nano-scale multilayers with various Fe and Ti layer thicknesses were prepared in a vapor-deposition system. The thickness, periodicity, chemical composition, microstructure and magnetic properties of the films were characterized and measured by various methods. The experimental results indicate that the magnetic moment per Fe atom in Fe/Ti multilayers is significantly reduced with decreasing Fe layer thickness when Ti layer is fixed at 9.4 nm. Whereas, when the Fe layer thickness is 2.8 nm and Ti layer varies from 9.4 to 1.5 nm, the magnetic moment of the films is first reduced and then enhanced. Possible mechanisms responsible for these observations are also discussed. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
