Optimal design of plastic extrusion die achieving flow balance

摘要
Flow balance of extrusion is one of the basic principles of extrusion die design. On the base of developing the three-dimensional parameterized model of the channel, the optimization design method of extrusion die was studied by integrating finite element numerical analysis and optimization technique, where the objective function is that the average flow velocity of each sub-section of profile cross section at extrusion die exit is equal, and the design variables are the thickness of the entrance of compression zone and the length of parallel zone. An example was provided to illustrate the optimization method proposed above. Results show that the method proposed in this paper is valid and effective.
