摘要
The female boom literature in the Latin American literary field primarily explores the treatment of female identity, illuminating the voice of the woman who owns her own language. The two most successful books are La casa de los espiritus (1982) by Chilean Isabel Allende and Arrancame la vida (1985) by Mexican Angeles Mastretta. This article analyzes the commercial phenomenon called the "female boom" in the literary production by women in the 1980s and its social contribution to society, allowing women writers to gain international recognition and to build the image of the female narrator within the Latin American collective psyche.
