摘要
Computed tomography (CT) is an important diagnostic technique in human medicine. In veterinary medicine, the use of CT has been limited, because of high cost and poor availability. However, it is used increasingly in more complex cases, such as skull and brain injuries in cats. A two-year-old, male and an eight-year-old, female European domestic shorthair cat, that had fallen from the fifth floor of an apartment, were referred to our clinic with multiple injuries. The patients were examined and treated for shock. After stabilization, the cats underwent radiographic and computed tomographic examinations. Three-dimensional reconstruction of the transverse images via CT, provided graphic visualization of the traumatized skulls. Although tiny fissures and small fractures may be missed during reconstruction, a three-dimensional image has the advantage of quickly orienting the clinician to complex fractures. This is extremely helpful for determining prognosis and subsequent therapy.
