Effect of the loading rate on the microhardness of metallic materials and the micromechanism of plastic strain

摘要
The effect of the loading rate on the microhardness of metallic materials and the micromechanism of plastic strain was discussed. The effect of the loading rate, the mass of the load, the magnetic field and the wetting of the surface with liquid metal on the microhardness was analyzed. The analysis showed that the resistance to plastic strain in a microlayer directly adjoining the indenter decreased considerably with increase in the energy of hypersonic vibrations of the atoms of the metal. © 2002 Plenum Publishing Corporation.
