摘要
Following World War II, the parties on both sides of the Atlantic built a relationship through diplomacy, economics, security and common values. This partnership, which has differed over time, has been plunged into crisis in many respects both as a result of the tensions experienced following the end of the Cold War and the post-September 11 environment; and has become even more problematic after the Iraq War. The 2008 economic crisis, the new conjuncture that emerged with the ever weakening unipolarity, the global fight against terrorism and the election of Donald Trump as president have altered the dynamic of relations between the USA and the EU. This article attempts to analyze the relations between the Transatlantic allies during the presidency of Trump through the concept of "Westlessness". In addition, the role that the United States may assume or wish to assume in the Trump and post Trump era and the sustainability of the alliance between the US and Europe are discussed. Situation analysis and interpretive policy analysis are used as methods in the article which has concluded that the rift in the Transatlantic partnership deepened during the Trump era and that Trump 'cast a shadow' on the process known as Westlessness.
