摘要
This paper compares the radiation characteristics of forward and backward leaky waves in one-dimensionally periodic metasurface leaky-wave antennas (LWAs). Two LWAs are designed to form a fan beam along +30 degrees and -30 degrees from broadside at 15 GHz. It is shown that the LWA employing backward leaky waves has a higher scan-angle range (Delta theta = 55 degrees as compared to Delta theta = 34 degrees) and a slightly higher gain within the bandwidth of 13 - 19 GHz.
