摘要
At the cusp of the current revolution is the idea that traditional information stovepipes should be dismantled and replaced with a dynamic and distributed information universe, allowing people, systems, and ideas to flow freely among and across organizational boundaries. Quietly fueling this collaborative revolution are so-called Service Oriented Architectures (SOAs) - those in which the capabilities of the system are exposed via Web Services and made available to the network. The Open Market Evolutionary Development (OMED) model is a template that defines a community-driven standards body by providing a marketplace for the creation and use of Web Service interface standards. These standards ensure the interoperability and compatibility of services within a SOA. The OMED template defines: (1) a demand-driven economy around which Web Service interface specifications are defined and maintained; (2) the mechanism that ensures a balance between stability and innovation; and (3) the process by which the Community operates.
