摘要：

The value of simulating systems is fully appreciated. However there are differences between simulated and real systems which only become apparent when dealing with both. This paper discusses work being done on manufacturing processes. Simulation is done using Virtual Reality Modelling Language, VRML and Java. The real systems are a robot arm used for laser scanning and reverse engineering and a manufacturing cell.
