摘要：

The Information and Communications Technology (ICT) revolution is having, and is expected to have, profound effects on employment. These effects arise both through the link between ICT and many facets of globalization and restructuring and because it opens up both new threats and new opportunities for economic activities in rural areas. The key element in both is said to be the abolition of "distance" which is associated with ICT.
