摘要
A model to calculate arc temperature of air gaps discharge is presented in this article. Based on the energy balance equation, we obtained the mathematical method to evaluate the arc temperature. According to the model, arc temperature was calculated for two air gaps with different distance, respectively. The results showed that the peak arc temperature of 16.7m air gap is 36368 degrees K, and the peak arc temperature of 10m air gap is 34277 degrees K, which are in good agreement with the experiment results. The model built in this article can be used for lightning and switching impulse discharges in air gaps. Copyright (c) 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
