An Overview of Bootstrap Converter for Grid connected Wind Energy Conversion System

摘要
Wind Energy conversion system is very predominant in generation of electrical power. The integration of Wind energy conversion system (WECS) with the grid is a challenging phenomenon in research areas. A dc link capacitor act as a bridge between the generator side converter and grid side inverter. The function of a DC link capacitor is to obliterate the voltage ripple from the rectifier output and modulate a constant voltage as an input to the voltage source inverter. The proposed topology presents a bootstrap converter for a grid connected wind energy conversion system. The bootstrap converter is a conventional buck DC-DC converter. The voltage transformation ratio is doubled by using boot capacitors and inductors. The voltage ratio of the bootstrap converter is strengthen by changing the anode and cathode leads of the boost diode. In the bootstrap converter, the voltage ratio to the inverter is raised by interchanging the anode-cathode of diode, increasing the boosting capacitor and inductor ratings. By improving boosting ratio, the DC-link capacitor is replaced by proposed converter. The proposed converter topology had implemented for PMSG, SCIG, DFIG with bridge and bridgeless configuration. The comparative simulated results are attained by using MATLAB simulation.
