摘要
The present investigation was undertaken to study the effect of hydrocooling and Bavistin dip on the shelf life and quality of mango during storage under various environments. For this purpose, the fruits of three mango varieties such as Kesar, Totapuri and Vanraj were harvested with stalk (2.5cm), hydrocooled at 12 degrees C and given postharvest dip of Bavistin (1000 ppm) and stored at two conditions such as at room temperature (23.45 to 35.08 degrees C temp. and 47.50 to 80.25%RH) and in low cost, low energy input, easily installable cool chamber (22.00 to 26.10 degrees C temp. and 92 to 95% RH). It was found that the shelf life of Kesar, Totapuri and Vanraj could be extended upto 25, 36 and 31 days, respectively, when stored in cool chamber. On the contrary, the shelf life of these varieties was found to be hardly 17, 21 and 19 days, respectively, when stored at room temperature. It was also observed that the hydrocooled and Bavistin treated fruits recorded lower physiological loss in weight (PLW)(%) and high organoleptic score when stored in cool chamber as compared to room temperature storage. The cool chamber stored fruits looked fresh, firm and attractive. The untreated fruits were found to have infected with Colletotrichum gloeosporioides and Diplodia natalensis.
