摘要
We report the results of a three-pulse echo peak shift (3PEPS), and transient absorption (TA) study of bacteriorhodopsin. The results are analyzed in the framework of the multimode Brownian oscillator (MBO) model. It is concluded that the protein environment of the retinal chromophore exhibits an extensive inertial solvation phase, which may be attributed to a dielectric response. Diffusive-type motions of the protein on a sub-ps to ps timescale do not occur.
