Macroscopic, local, volume, charge-carrier states in quasi-zero-dimensional structures

摘要
A theory of size-quantization of charge carriers in a small semiconductor crystal under conditions where the polarization interaction plays a large role is constructed. The charge-carrier spectrum in a small microcrystal and its dependence on the radius of the microcrystal, the charge-carrier Effective mass, and the relative permittivity are investigated. It is shown that the appearance of local states is of a threshold nature depending on the size of the microcrystal. (C) 1997 American Institute of Physics. [S1063-7826(97)01911-X].
