The pap smears screening remains the best method for reducing the incidence and mortality of invasive cancer. The LAPS offers tests of primary attention (biochemical, bacteriological and parasithological). Population covered with this public health system, have a high risk for cervical cancer. Our unit begun by the screening with pap smears, through district clinic in Montevideo. Since April 1997,we have done 7585 tests, and we identified 9 invasive cancer (IC): o,12%,56 H-sil (0,74%), 64 L-Sil(0,84%),77 ASCUS (1,02%),and 9 AGUS (0,12%). The 42,8 % of H-sil and 33,3% of IC, were predominant in endocervical topography, rebounding the importance of endocervical brushing. Most of the patients never have a test, or made one since two years time or more. This kind of strategy also promote the assertive effect through the health crew and the patient in their social habitat.
