Environment in a global information society

We live in a global information society, where development depends increasingly on the skill of human resources and the ability to adapt to change. The information society presents opportunities and problems related to the environment. Emerging opportunities are driven and shaped by such processes and phenomena as diversification, partnerships and innovation. Problems are linked to such causes as uncontrolled mobility, widening gaps, disrupted time and space scales, and the inability of societies and institutions to adapt to change.
