摘要：
A new empirical equation for predicting longitudinal dispersion coefficient in natural streams by using hydraulic and geometric data is presented. The genetic algorithm that can search out the global optimum is used in this study. The new empirical dispersion coefficient equation is proven to be superior to some existing empirical dispersion coefficient equations by comparison with seventeen measured data taken from Jialing River and Three Gorges Reservoir of China.
