摘要
Evolution of closure effect in short 2D cracks in a 304L austenitic stainless steel. The atypical behaviour of short cracks may be mainly attributed to closure effects. Nevertheless, for short cracks, the detection of the stress level corresponding to opening phenomenon appears to be difficult or even impossible. This study deals with the closure of 2D short cracks in a 304L austenitic stainless steel. In order to optimize the detection of compliance change, an automatic procedure has been developed to analyse numerical signals with data filtering. It has been demonstrated that this tool allows obtaining a precise measurement of the opening load even for cracks whose length is as short as 0.1 mm. The corresponding results have led us to characterize closure contribution with respect to crack length.
