Trade Associations and Intellectual Property Protection of Private Enterprises-Taking Wenzhou as an Example

Private economy is the main body of the Wenzhou economy, of which private enterprises plays a crucial role in economic structure of Wenzhou. The trade associations, emerging in the development of the Wenzhou economy, have played an important role of pushing the relevant industries forward and promoting the intellectual property protection. A trade association has four basic functions: trade service, trade self-discipline, trade representation, and trade coordination. From the perspective of the basic functions of trade association in the process of protecting the intellectual property of private enterprises, it can be clearly seen that its trade service is embodied in the propaganda of intellectual property knowledge, establishment of information platform, and the work of intellectual property protection in exhibitions, its trade self-discipline is manifested in setting the rights-guarding convention of intellectual property protection and enhancing trade self-discipline, its trade representation is reflected in setting the standards as the representative of enterprises, establishing and popularizing the regional brands, and dealing with intellectual property disputes, its trade coordination focuses on enhancing the technical development. Certainly, there are more things to do about intellectual property protection, and the trade associations need to extend and perfect their work to protect the intellectual property of the enterprises better.
