Synthesis of Hg1-yReyBa2Ca2Cu3O8+x pure phase at normal pressures

We have prepared ceramics of the superconducting phase Hg0.8Re0.2Ba2Ca2Cu3O8+x with a critical temperature onset of about 138K and transitions widths of 8K (10%-90%). The superconductors were prepared using precursor powders of Ba2Ca2Cu3O7 mixed with stoichiometric additions of ReO3 and HgO. We have utilized the vacuum sealed quartz tube technique for the preparation of the superconducting phase.
