摘要
What galaxies look like today clearly depends on how they were assembled. There are two ways that galaxies can gain mass: Smooth accretion of cooling or cool gas and merging with smaller galaxies. Here we compare the relative importance of smooth accretion and merging in the assembly of galaxies using a cosmological N-body/hydrodynamic simulation. We also investigate its dependence on environment.
