摘要
Teaching in the first courses of graduate studies should be based on solid educational resources to assist in the learning process of students. The aim of this study is to evaluate the scores of students in two courses: the first year of Bachelor of Chemical Engineering and the second year of Bachelor of Chemistry at the University of Barcelona, during the academic years 2010-2011 and 2011-2012. In this regard, it has experienced in teaching Basic Fundamentals of Chemical Engineering by following a textbook in theoretical and practical classes. The book used in this study has been recently published (2011) by Editorial Reverte (ISBN: 9788429171853) with the title: "Introduction of Chemical Engineering: Solved Problems on Mass and Energy Balances". Before the book, the number of students who passed the subject was 11% respect to the registered ones. After the book this percentage has grown until 62%. The results indicate that the use of this book has become an important tool to achieve good results in learning the Basics of Chemical Engineering in both bachelors.
