摘要
The process of teaching and learning algebra can be challenging, especially for students that have low understanding of the concepts of variables and numerical representations. Nevertheless, a combination of multimedia learning material and an appropriate learning strategy can assist in the understanding of the algebra concept. The learning materials which include real-life examples can help with the understanding of the topic learned. Thus, this study has developed a multimedia learning material that uses real-life examples to teach the concept of algebraic fractions. A control group and an experimental group of 40 students each were formed to measure the effectiveness of the learning material that has been developed. The learning gains of the students were obtained from the pretest and posttest results that were given to them. The analysis shows that there is a significant difference between the group that learned using the learning materials of real-life examples as its learning strategy compared to the group that learned using learning materials from the traditional learning strategy.
