Hydrophobic hydration effects as probed by slow neutron scattering

摘要
Experimental data on inelastic slow neutron scattering by a 1 M [C4H9](4)NCl aqueous solution at room temperature are interpreted at the generalized frequency distribution level. No indications of structural changes in the hydrogen bond network as compared to neat water are found. This permits the conclusion that the influence of the tetrabutylammonium ion on the structural and dynamic properties of water at room temperature is, as a rule, considerably overestimated.
