Transient free convection from a sphere which is embedded in a fluid-saturated porous medium, following a step change in temperature of the sphere, is discussed. The governing equations are solved numerically for both small and large values of the Rayleigh number. R alpha, using a finite-difference method, The results are in good agreement with some previously published data.
