摘要
Cardanol, the major constitutent of cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL), is extracted from CNSL by vacuum distillation at 3-4 mm pressure of mercury and at 230-240 degreesC. Then, it is diazotized by the process of diazotization with a number of different aromatic amines. A number of resins have been synthesized by condensing diazotized cardanol with formaldehyde and with selective organic compounds in the presence of acid as the catalyst. The diozotized cardanol and resins were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Solvent absorptivity of the resins have been studied by taking toluene and dimethyl formamide as solvents. These are also characterized by IH-NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) spectral analysis. The thermal behavior of the resin has been studied.
