Melting-point diagram for the Mg,Ca∥Cl,MoO4 ternary reciprocal system

摘要
Thermoanalytical (DTA) data for a ternary reciprocal system consisting of chlorides and molybdates of magnesium and calcium are reported. The liquidus surface of the system is composed of four fields of the primary crystallization of the components, which meet along monovariant lines at eutectic points lying at 615 and 602 degreesC. The ternary eutectics, as well as the eutectic existing in the MgCl2-CaMoO4 quasi-binary join, are characterized by a significant content (5-17 eq. %) of the refractory calcium molybdate. Therefore, the eutectic compositions are of interest as electrolytes for molybdenum plating from melt.
