摘要
The two-dimensional stability of a backward-facing step flow is investigated at the low Reynolds number Re = 500 A method is proposed to determine the optimal energy growth of linear perturbations sustained by harmonic forcing The maximum sustained energy growth is of order 10(5) at frequency f(s) similar to 0 08 and is related to convective instabilities growing in the shear layer of the separated flow.
