摘要：

A research project initiated by the Norwegian Research Council is investigating the effects on safety and health of new economic and technological conditions for the exploration and production in the Norwegian petroleum industry. The results regarding safety performance presented in this paper are not conclusive. However, indicators tell about an increase in major accident risks, whereas the occupational accident frequencies remain low. Implications for approaches to risk assessment and control are discussed.
