Structure of a high-pressure hydroxide Ta2O5 • 2/3H2O and a derivative metastable oxide Ta2O5

摘要
As a result of thermobaric processing of low-water amorphous tantalum hydroxide, a new high- pressure phase F-Ta2O5 . 2/3H(2)O has been prepared. This phase is structurally built of pleated planes of [TaO7] pentagonal bipyramids linked through columns of [TaO8] eight-vertex polyhedra. In channels formed by these planes and columns, chains of water molecules are accommodated. The removal of water from channels in the range of 220-550degreesC does not destroy the framework thus forming a new metastable phase F-Ta2O5.
