Consider a n x n matrix partitioned into k x k blocks: C =[C-i,C- j], where C-1,C-1,..., C-k,C-k are square. This paper studies the possible eigenvalues of C when a diagonal of blocks C-i,C- j is fixed and the others vary. (C) 2003 Elsevier Science Inc. All rights reserved.
